NFF unveis 23 man list for south africa

Nigeria Football federation, NFF has unveiled the list of invited players to prosecute the African Nations Cup qualifiers against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio’s International Stadium in Uyo. Super Eagles The list comprises of Arsenal bound Henry Onyekuru and recalled Victor Osimhen. The Rohr led side will tomorrow square-up against the Hawks of Togo before coming back to Nigeria to round-up preparations for the South Africa game. Ramadan: Sokoto government to spend N751 million for orphans

Sokoto State Government has earmarked N751 million for orphans and less privileged persons in the ongoing Ramadan fasting and the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebration. Sokoto State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Mani Katami, disclosed this to newsmen in Sokoto on Wednesday. He said the packages, which are in three categories, would assist the less privileged to fast and celebrate the forthcoming Sallah with a relative ease. The commissioner said under the first category, the state government has earmarked N300 million for the operations of the 311 Ramadan feeding centres across the metropolis. He said that out of the number, 110 would be provided with food, oranges and other condiments to prepare food for the needy to break their fast. ”These centres have been provided with cooks, security attaches, surveillance teams, operators and a supervisor, among others. ”We have also created a centre dedicated for diabetics at the Specialist Hospital, Sokoto, to enable them break thei...

Gunmen kidnapped lawmaker on abuja- Kaduna highway

KANO – Kwakwaso’s political family was thrown into shock Wednesday following reports that a member representing Sumaila/Takai Federal Constituency, Garba Durbunde, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen around Abuja-Jere axis of the Abuja-Kaduna highway. Garba Durbunde, a longstanding political associate of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was a Commissioner for Rural and Community Development after a brilliant stint at the Kano House of Assembly. Vanguard learned that the unfortunate incident forced Kwankwasiyya political movement in Kano to cancelled much publicised engagement designed to honour Dr Ali Danyaro. Also it was learnt that the lawmaker left Abuja for Kano around 5pm on Tuesday but was flagged down at outskirt of Jere town by unknown gunmen who took him away. Breaking: Senator Dino Melaye Caught On Tape Bribing Tribunal Judge Akoh Ikpeme

An audio tape obtained by Saharareporters has revealed how Nigerian Senator Dino Melaye compromised Justice Akon Ikpeme, the tribunal judge who handled his election case in 2015. In the tape, which captures a telephone conversation between Justice (Mrs) Akoh and Mr. Melaye, the judge is overheard asking Mr. Melaye to give her a bribe in US dollars. She also asks Mr. Melaye to assist a person Dino repeatedly referred to as her "daughter" secure a job at the Cross Rivers State Ministry of Health. Our investigation reveals that Justice Ikpeme is married to a Cross River medical doctor. She is reportedly number 3 in the hierarchy of the Cross Rivers judiciary. Saharareporters could not confirm if Mrs. Ikpeme’s daughter got a job with the Cross Rivers state government, but in a second call between her and Mr. Melaye, the Senator bragged that he had already spoken to the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade.

Shettima orders arrest over IDPs food diversion

MAIDUGURI—Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, yesterday, ordered the arrest of hoodlums that allegedly diverted Ramadan food items meant for internally-displaced persons, IDPs, in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere council of the state. Shettima gave the orders to the police, while flagging off the distribution of 2,250 bags and tins of rice, sugar and tomato pastes at the Lamusila Primary School premises. He said the arrest order had become inevitable, as 50 percent of distributed relief food items to displaced persons were either snatched or diverted at the distribution centres and affected wards of councils. The governor took time to supervise the distribution for over three hours, before departing for the Government House by 3.30p.m. Speaking on import of the distribution of Ramadan food items, Chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Ahmed Satomi, disclosed that 134,000 metric tons of relief food items were distributed to 1.9 million people in the two cou...

NTEJE CRISIS: 5 killed, Pete Edochie’s brother, 17 others arrested

AWKA—FIVE persons have so far lost their lives in Nteje, Anambra State and 18 others, including a brother to the popular Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, are being detained in Abuja over protracted land dispute in the community. The traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Rowland Odegbo, who escaped being arrested following Governor Willie Obiano’s intervention, has cried out over the alleged incessant harassment of his people by the police from outside the state, regretting that his community was under police siege. Some of the people killed were still in the mortuary, while most youths in the area had fled from the town and hiding in forests for fear of being bundled to Abuja. Democracy Day: Nigerian Wailers List 81 Failed Promises Of Buhari

A pressure group, Nigerian Wailers, has passed a vote of no confidence on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari on the occasion of the 2017 Democracy Day. The group said this was with regard to the government’s failure to fulfill its campaign promises after two years in office. A statement signed by Fasipe Oluyemi, its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, said Buhari’s government, which had given hope on many positive promises during its campaign, had not lived up to the expectation. Nigerian Wailers added that: “We are aware of President Buhari’s ill health and how badly it has affected governance in the country.
